Frequently asked questions
Is WindowSet free?
Yes. There are no ads or accounts.
Does it send my data anywhere?
Window titles, positions, sizes and saved layouts stay on your Mac. WindowSet connects to windowset.app to check for and download updates.
Can it reopen a saved browser?
Yes. Restoring a saved layout starts the browser app if it is closed, then moves its available windows. Browser tabs are restored according to that browser’s own session settings.
Accessibility is enabled, but it still does not work.
In System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, remove WindowSet and add WindowSet.app from Applications again. This may be necessary after an update.
Why are some windows skipped?
Minimized, hidden, full-screen and other-desktop windows are not included. Some apps enforce a minimum size.
How do I update?
When a new version is found, WindowSet asks before downloading and replacing the app. You can also choose Check for Updates from the menu. If you have v1.1.0 or earlier, download this DMG once to enable in-app updates. Your settings and saved layouts remain on your Mac.
How do I uninstall it?
Quit WindowSet from its menu, then move it from Applications to the Trash.
